You will likely feel sore for a few days and very tired for several weeks. It may take 4 to 6 weeks to feel like yourself again, and possibly longer if you had a caesarean (or C-section) birth. Over the next few days and weeks, you may have some bleeding and afterpains as your uterus shrinks.
Feeling exhausted and overwhelmed is normal. Deeper feelings of depression, hopelessness and anxiety can be expected and should be consulted with your doctor.
The first 6 weeks post partum should be spent bonding with your baby and recovering. It can also be a time for you to think about looking after yourself. With your new arrival taking up so much of your time, you can very easily forget about taking care of yourself. However, if you do not look after yourself, then how do you expect to be able to look after your baby.
My First 6 Weeks Online Program
Our “My First 6 Weeks” online program is designed specifically with YOU in mind. We begin this program with nutrition only, encouraging you to eat well so that you have the energy to take care of your baby and if you are breastfeeding, help to improve your supply.
Once your body feels ready, we introduce gentle movements to help strengthen your pelvic floor, before moving on to walking and slightly more strenuous exercises.
We have taken careful consideration, when designing this program, not to rush into vigorous exercising, which may cause you harm.
After this 6 week program you will feel more energized, have more control of your pelvic floor, with some weight loss and feeling more toned.
